  4. Now many many years ago when I was twenty-three
  5. I was married to a widow who was pretty as can be
  6. This widow had a grown-up daughter who had hair of red
  7. My father fell in love with her and soon they too were wed
  8.  
  9. Oh I'm my own grandpa
  10. I'm my own granpa
  11. It sounds funny I know,
  12. But it really is so
  13. Oh I'm my own grandpa
  14.  
  15. This made my dad my son-in-law and changed my very life
  16. My daughter was my mother 'cause she was my father's wife
  17. To complicate the matter even though it brought me joy
  18. I soon became the father of a bouncing baby boy
  19.  
  20. My little baby then became a brother-in-law to Dad
  21. And so became my uncle, though it made me very sad
  22. For if he was my uncle, then that also made him br'ther
  23. Of the widow's grown-up daughter who was also my stepmother
  24.  
  25. Father's wife then had a son who kept them on the run
  26. And he became my grandchild, for he was my daughter's son
  27. My wife is now my mother's mother and it makes me blue
  28. Because altho' she is my wife, she's my grandmother too
  29.  
  30. Now if my wife is my grandmother, then I'm her grandchild
  31. And every time I think of it, it nearly drives me wild
  32. For now I have become the strangest case I ever saw
  33. As husband of my grandmother, I am my own grandpa
